We are all aware of the plethora of video games that use terrorist in general and al Qaeda in particular as targets. We are also well aware of the fact that the military is using video games both as a recruitment tools and training medium.
What I see is this is definitely proof that far more than we are adapting to their changes of strategy and tactics they are using our tools, weapons, capital, tactics and efforts against us. They are going to school on our ticket. We thought we would redefine warfare; in particular based on technology. The enemy continuously reminds us that wars are fought by people and the weapons of the mind, psy-ops is a battlefield that we are not the only ones adept in. Psy-ops is never effectively if you are ignorant of the opponent and they can be as important (if not more when applied in conjunction with adept diplomacy) as the most destructive weapon to truly bring a war to a successful conclusion.
This is the latest present from the enemy.
And while we are certainly teaching them a thing or two it might not be a bad idea to learn a little bit too.

Ask your kids if you want to know what sites to download it from.
We will never prevail against an enemy we continuously underestimate and remain ignorant about while they in turn familiarize themselves with every nuance and vulnerability of our culture and infrastructure.

Re: The virtual training ground
Mon, September 18, 2006 - 10:01 PMthat game looks like it sucks. what kind of training ground has items to *increase health*? shooting games today allow you to play as terrorists anyway, it's only reasonable since the heroes are nato, the americans, navy seals, etc. seriously, socom: navy seals 3 puts this one to shame. these people might as well be playing the original doom, with aliens and plasma guns. -

Re: The virtual training ground
Mon, September 18, 2006 - 10:38 PMYou miss the point Alan. They no doubt are playing all sorts of games, including the ones made for our troops to practice so as to familiarize themselves with our techniques. The enemy doesn't need to invent this technology to adapt to it and adapt it to their needs.
I am sure they have access to all the games you can imagine plus the real war games we are providing at great expense in Iraq and other places. They aren't interested in going into competition with the Silicon Valley, only in make a killing.
It seems they are succeeding at it far better than we are bringing democracy to the Mideast.
